Miguel CONDE (born 1939): the reader. Engraving... - Lot 15 - Pousse-Cornet
Miguel CONDE (born 1939): the reader. Engraving in black. Signed Miguel and dedicated "For Alice and John". 20,5 x 15 cm Jointly a plate of varnishing to the gallery "troisième oeuvre" in Bordeaux April-May 1983 Provenance: John and Alice Pole-Woods' estate. John POLE is American but from a very old English family famous during the Hundred Years War (John and William Pole at the time of Joan of Arc) and in the XVIth century (Cardinal Reginald Pole at the Council of Trent, who was almost pope). Officer in the US Air Force, photographer in the aviation and intelligence services, then antique dealer in Paris, John Pole devoted himself totally to his passion for photography. Several personal exhibitions are dedicated to him. His reports have taken him to many countries in Africa, Europe and the Orient. With his wife Alice, he met the artist Wifredo LAM with whom they became friends in the 1950s; the proof is in the many letters we are dispersing during this sale. He retired around 1980 to the village of Pierrefitte sur Sauldre in Sologne.
