FRANCE. FLEURET. Rare early example, probably from the 17th century, with steel frame, wooden spindle covered with a fish string filigree (replaced later), the pommel is missing, bivalve guard with curved quillon, 4 lower curved branches come to form a kind of "pas d'âne" whose branches meet at the end. Flat blade without cutting edge and with rectangular end, punched at the heel of the R under the fleur de lys. L: 90 cm, blade: 74 cm. ABE (oxidation). This specimen presents an identical guard to the foil of the collection of Master Castanet n°10 of the catalog of June 27, 2015, study Coutau-Bégarie, M. Leynet expert. FRANCE. FOIL. Rare early example, probably 17th century, with steal guard, wooden grip covered with cord (later replaced), pommel missing, figure of 8 with curved quillon, 4 lower curved branches who meet at the end. The blade is flat, not sharp, and has a rectangular tip, at the base is stamped "R" under the fleur-de-lis. FC (oxidation).
