Jan Van den HECKE I (Quaremont, East Flanders -1620 - Antwerp 1684). Bouquet of flowers in a wicker basket on an entablature. Panel, two boards, not parqueted. H.38.5 cm, L.27 cm. Our painting is identical to the one in the former Riechers collection, sale Paris, Me Ader Nordmann, June 24, 2019, no. 21. Old restorations and lifts. Antwerp hand mark and inscription 'Bas. / 1766'. Initially a pupil of Abraham Hack around 1637, he joined the Antwerp Guild of Saint-Luc in 1642 before embarking on a long journey to Rome, from which he did not return until 1659. The style of his still lifes is influenced by Jan Davidsz. de Heem and Daniel Seghers'. Expert : Cabinet Turquin, Stéphane Pinta.
