PAIR OF FLAMBEAUX in finely chased and gilded bronze; the bobeches with fretwork; the binnacles in the form of godroned vases with lion heads supported by shafts with rosettes and heads of satyrs and terms of young women with satyrs supporting garlands of flowers; circular bases with shoulders dressed with acanthus alternating with florets and fleurons. Based on a model by François Rémond, inspired by a design by Jean-Démosthène Dugourc. Late Louis XVI period. H.32 cm, D.14 cm. Slight deformations to the base and wear to the gilding. This model was inspired by the work of François Rémond. The bases and binnacles vary, as do the pairs of torches in the Wallace Collection (London) and Pillnitz Castle, near Dresden.
