Pair of moulded, carved and cream lacquered beech chairs with openwork backs decorated with a lyre, resting on four fluted legs. Connecting thimbles decorated with florets. Stamped by David. Louis XVI period. H.87, W.42, D.43 cm. Restoration and wear to the lacquer. Antique metal reinforcements on the belt. Upholstery on straps with "Jacob"-style braiding in striped fabric. DAVID, a master and merchant turner from Compiègne, is listed among the suppliers to the Menus-Plaisirs under Louis XV.
