ALCOVE CARTEL in Boulle marquetry of brown tortoiseshell and brass, decorated with rich ornamentation in chased and gilded bronze. The glass door reveals putti with an owl and a rooster in a floral network interlacing a mascaron, topped by a putto with a flaming torch. Chased and gilded metal dial with enameled cartouches and Roman numerals. Signed Gribelin in Paris and countersigned on the plate. Repeating movement, striking on demand, with later Brocot suspension. Regency period. H.77, W.37, D.19 cm. Some wear and restoration.
