Jean BAROL (1873-1966) for Montières. Rare pair of iridescent earthenware bookends depicting two satyrs engrossed in reading. Manufacture de Montières, circa 1900. A few small chips. Signed Barol on the base.
Note: One imagines that these bookends would have housed precious literary scrolls such as libertine novels and pamphlets, which scholars usually keep in the "Inferno" of their library...
