Anne KJAERSGAARD (1933-1990): - Lot 12
Anne KJAERSGAARD (1933-1990): Soup tureen in shaded blue stoneware with drip decoration. Monogrammed under the base. H: 18 - D: 22 cm. Provenance: Val de Loire private collection ANNE KJAERSGAARD (1933-1990) After training in her native Denmark, then in England at Bernard Leach's studio, Anne Kjaersgaard moved to France in the late 1950s. She moved to La Borne, where she married Jean Linard, and quickly established herself as a major player in the local ceramics movement. What distinguishes her work, and quickly exerted a strong influence in the Borne milieu, is the subtle balance between the utilitarian function of her pieces and their strong artistic expression conveyed by vibrant glazes, an assertive pictorial gesture and the characteristic glazed aspect of her stoneware.
