FRANCE. HORSE GRENADIER SABRE of the IMPERIAL GUARD. Brass mounting, three-pronged openwork guard decorated in the center with a flaming pomegranate, short-tailed cap, oval pommel, basane-sheathed spindle with braided brass thread filigree, curved palmette-shaped quillon stamped "Versailles", and "JC for J. Cazamajou reviser between 1809 and 1811, curved blade with hollow sides and groove, engraved on the back of the Imperial Manufacture of Klingenthal, Couleaux brothers, stamped "B" in an oval for the controller of 1st class Bick and of a "M" under star for C. Marion, inspector of 1808 to 1811, scabbard, known as of the 2nd type entirely out of brass with two bracelets of bracelets with iron ring, two hollows in its higher part, sting out steel. The scabbard, which shows many traces of spur chambers in its lower part, was formerly reinforced at its weak point, the hollows and the band separating them, by a welded brass splint and an extension of the brass scabbard beyond the ram. This type of makeshift repair is commonly seen on authentic swords. The forend is also stamped "JC". Total length: 116 cm, blade 96 cm, heel width: 30 mm. The sword has been entirely covered with a varnish that has slightly yellowed. First Empire period. ABE (wear and tear, surface oxidation of the blade tip)
