Every year, our auction house disperses over 10,000 works and objects of art. We offer realistic and reasonable estimates, set according to prices achieved by comparable works sold recently.
Selling with Pousse-Cornet guarantees that you will be guided by the auctioneer throughout the entire selling process: from inventory to settlement, including marketing strategy and tax matters.
Do not sell without consulting us!
Our Strengths
1. A family-owned, local auction house
Our auction house was established in 1981 and handed down by Marie-Édith Pousse-Cornet to her two children, Guillaume and Amélie Cornet. By choosing us, you will have direct access to dynamic and responsive auctioneers.
2. Lowest fees on the market
Our buyer's premium is among the lowest in the auction market: 20% incl. VAT in addition to the hammer price.
3. Expertise
We work with specialized experts who are recognized leaders in their respective fields.
4. Tailored sales strategy
We define the best strategy to maximize the value and defense of your works & objects of art (expert appraisal, communication strategies, etc.). We pay special attention to every detail: the sale format, location, date, promotion, and marketing...
5. Access to the international art market
We regularly achieve record prices, driven by the growing participation of collectors from all over the world bidding live on www.drouot.com and www.interencheres.com/41001
Consigning items for sale
When dropping off goods for sale, an inventory list is established and a sales consignment agreement outlining the terms of sale is signed. It details the estimated value and the seller's commission fees to be deducted from the hammer price. These fees include: auctioneer fees, photography expenses, pre-sale appraisal costs, insurance fees, cataloging costs, and national/international press advertising fees.
Following the auction, you can view the sale results on our website in the results section. Subject to full payment receipt from the buyer, you will receive your payout 35 days after the sale, net of specified commissions, fees, and taxes.
Tax implications
Auction sales are subject to taxation. The capital gains tax equals 6.5% of the hammer price and applies to any individual item sold for an amount exceeding €5,001.
There are two exemptions:
- If the item has been owned by the seller for more than 22 years (in which case a form must be completed and returned to us along with accepted supporting documentation).
- If the seller is a foreign national and not a tax resident of France.
