BACCARAT : Vase in "agate", the cup in "pate... - Lot 128 - Pousse-Cornet
BACCARAT : Vase in "agate", the cup in "pate de riz" and the foot in "agate bleu impératrice" (in honor of Eugénie de Montijo, wife of Napoleon II)I. The palmettes of the cup are carved and the gold fillets are hand painted. One of 90 numbered copies from the Baccarat crystal factory. Around 1988. H : 34 cm. Presented in its original box with certificate of authenticity. Between 1840 and 1870, Baccarat experimented with the manufacture of "Agate", a glass whose opacity, reminiscent of that of the semi-precious stone of the same name, corresponds to a very particular composition and method of fusion. It was created in 10 different colors, including the famous white "agate" called "rice paste" because of its texture. This vase was created in 1858 in what can be called the "classic agate" period. Forgotten for a few decades, the secret of the manufacture of "agates" was found by Baccarat in the 1950s.
