Important patinated and gilded bronze HANGER in the form of a covered vase, topped by an exploded pomegranate and decorated with a frieze of inlaid ovals of flowers, the body, surrounding the enamelled dial held by a ribbon bow and framed with garlands of laurel, flanked by handles in the form of satyr masks surmounted by intertwined snakes, resting on a pedestal godronné and fluted ended by a base with a curved front surrounded by a frieze of laurel. Enameled dial indicating the hours in Roman numerals, the minutes in Arabic numerals, signed " Maison Marquis, Languereau et Compagnie ". Second half of the 19th century. 44 x 23 x 15 cm. Based on a watercolor drawing preserved in the Doucet Library (Paris, France) under number 143 and attributed by Hans Ottomeyer to the famous bronze worker Robert Osmond (1711-1789). Comparable clocks in the Thurn und Taxis collection in Regensburg, former Karl Lagerfeld collection, former Marquis de Biencourt collection.
