NETHERLANDS. Beautiful court sword with chased silver mounting, silver filigree spindle, olive-shaped pommel chased and openworked with foliage and floral motifs, single-edge guard chased en suite, openworked oval shell in the form of a braid with a central circular motif on the pommel and guard, straight blade with colichemarde, wide and triangular at two-thirds engraved with foliage and a figure, then fine double-edged at the last third. The heel is engraved in French "Je laisse ma vie pour la Patrie" (I leave my life for the Fatherland) and signed "Abraham du Cellié swartveger in Kalverstraat tot Amsterdam" (Abraham du Cellié, swordsman in Kalvertstraat sis Amserdam). Leather scabbard with three silver fittings. About 1770-1780. L: 100,5 cm, blade: 83,5 cm. ABE (watermark slightly undone) Abraham de Cellié is a sword maker settled in Kalverstraat around 1760-1780, other swords made by him are known. The blade of this sword was engraved with acid at the end of the 19th century, a coat of arms with motto "anima in amicis una" and dated "march 1888" for an unknown circumstance. NETHERLANDS.
