Roger de MINVIELLE (1897-1987) "After work"... - Lot 114 - Pousse-Cornet
Roger de MINVIELLE (1897-1987) "After work" or "Sand bath". Group in bronze with black patina signed on the terrace. Height : 16 - Width : 28 - Depth : 20 cm. 16 - Width : 28 - Depth : 20 cm Born in the heart of the Sologne, Roger de Minvielle was raised in a hunting environment. He volunteered at the age of 17 during the First World War and ended up as a cavalry lieutenant at the time of the 1918 armistice. After a stay in Morocco, he was assigned in 1923 to the 8th regiment of horse hunters in Orleans where he met Gaston D'Illiers. He was then 25 years old and discovered his vocation as a sculptor. In 1930, he joined the Cadre Noir of Saumur as a squire, and perfected his study of the horse as shown in "La courbette" and "La croupade". Becoming his only and unique subject of creation, he declines it in "Thoroughbred", "Anglo Arab" or trotter, before, during or after the race.
