On July 6, 1734, he inherited the title of Governor of Champagne from his grandfather Hercule Mériadec de Rohan-Soubise. In 1751, Louis XV appointed him Governor General of Flanders and Hainaut, Governor, Chief and Grand Bailiff of Lille, and 4 years later Minister of State. He was made Marshal of France in 1758, despite mixed military results. He remained Minister of State under Louis XVI. " Experts: Cabinet Turquin, Stéphane Pinta & Laurent Mirouze (CNES expert)
