A 154 C.T Loo (1880-1957), whose real name was Lu Huan Wen, was a dealer of Chinese origin. Arriving in Paris in 1902, he founded his gallery, named "Lai Yuan", literally "who comes from afar", in 1908. A fervent promoter of Chinese art, he introduced Europe and the United States to what he considered true Chinese art: archaic bronzes, great statuary and Buddhist frescoes. The greatest collectors and curators of the most prestigious museums flocked to his famous pagoda, built in 1928. The Second World War and the arrival of the Maoist government brought his activities to a halt, and the gallery owner retired in 1950. Expert : Cabinet PORTIER
