JAPAN: Sashiko fireman's hood and gloves in indigo-dyed cotton. Taisho period. Dim. gloves : 30 cm. Dim. hood : 47 cm. Note: Fires were common in traditional Japan. In fact, houses were made of wood, terraced and concentrated, and the Japanese heated their homes with coal. The Japanese called fires "Edo flowers" ("Edo no hana").
