Loul COMBRES (born 1937) - LES ARTISANS & PAYSANS DE LA LOZÈRE Earthenware ball vase H. 21 cm - Diam. 27 cm. Born in 1937 in the Paris region, Loul Combes trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nîmes before settling in Lozère. His career as a potter was very active, as he took part in the Coopérative des artisans et paysans de Lozère, was a member of the Académie Internationale de la Céramique and was responsible for professional training courses in his region. Winner of several awards, he exhibits in the South of France, Paris and even abroad. Once an actor and theater designer, it's hardly surprising that he's called upon to create ceramics in an architectural setting. His highly organic work is produced with the help of his wife Aline. The large vase we present is typical of some of their rich work, lacking a perfectly geometric form, with a fabric-stamped surface and light unglazed coloring.
