An elongated tapa beater with a flat side decorated with grid-like patterns, used to flatten, stretch, and smooth the fibers of the bark during the preparation of bark cloth. Early 20th century. L. 49.5 cm. (signs of wear). Provenance: Private collection in Sologne (by inheritance).
