DOGON, Mali. Hardwood with a deep ritual patina. A very anci - Lot 214
DOGON, Mali. Hardwood with a deep ritual patina. A very ancient “Dege” statuette associated with ancestor worship, depicting a standing male figure; his feet merge with the base of the pedestal, and his stocky body exudes a sense of the vital force “Nyama” that exists within every Dogon. Early 20th century. Height: 20 cm. Signs of wear. Provenance: Former Frank Bell Collection, Cologne
