Caroline CHEVALIER (born 1940). - Lot 131
Caroline CHEVALIER (born 1940). Large sculpture in chamotte stoneware, in a cloth-wrapped plate, of terminal form, cut out in places, decorated with large flowers painted in very colorful enamels and drawn in black ceramic pencil or sgraffito. Monogrammed. H: 39 cm. Caroline Chevalier completed her training as a ceramist in the early 1970s, taking courses at Elie Barachant, Elisabeth Joulia and Denis Goudenhooft in Jumièges. Bibliography: "Potiers et Céramistes de Haute-Normandie 1945-1998. Sceaux et signatures", exhibition catalog at Galerie Complément d'Objet, Rouen, 1999, p.19. Provenance: Denis Goudenhooft collection. Caroline Chevalier's work, playful and colorful, so personal and inspiring, is unfortunately too little known (works in Geneva's Musée Ariana).
