Terpereau specialized in views of his region, but also made a name for himself as a railway photographer attached to the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi, in particular with his views of the Garabit bridge during its construction. He also produced many portraits. He died in Bordeaux in 1897. "Like his father-in-law, Terpereau used the Poitrineau photographic carriage, but modified it so that two operators could work on large mirrors without getting in each other's way. Then he further reduced the size of the equipment..." says the catalog Regards sur la photographie en France au XIXe siècle 180 chefs d'oeuvres... BNF, 1980 no. 144: "In 1876, he launched the Terpereau portable laboratory, of which he was the inventor. It was the use of this equipment that enabled him, on location, to control as closely as possible modelling, finesse, contrast and sharpness, all qualities that gave his work its just reputation", says Pierre Bardou, Photographes en Gironde 1993. The address on these photographs is 30 cours de l'Intendance [Bordeaux], which he occupied from 1871 onwards, according to Voignier, Répertoire des photographes de France au dix-neuvième siècle p. 237.
